Meet the 2012 Honda Insight

With a MSRP, starting at just $18,200 the 2011 Honda Insight was dubbed "A Hybrid for Everyone"1.  Its approachable price and stellar fuel economy are two things car critics, such as Edmunds.com, and consumers alike rave about.

Speaking of raving...Consumers gave the 2011 Honda Insight a perfect five-out-of-five-star review. If you use Edmunds as a reference, you know that hardly ever happens.

Today, however, we're here to talk with you about the forthcoming 2012 Honda Insight. In trying to build up anticipation for the redesigned hybrid prior to this week's debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, in Germany, Honda released a few photographs. While they give very little away, Gurley Leep Honda can tell you that the front bumper and grill have been given a dramatic facelift, making them more aerodynamic than ever.

Able to move more easily through air with a lower drag coefficient, the new 2012 Honda Insight will effectively offer drivers better fuel economy. The Big H modified other areas of the vehicle, as well, to further amplify ratings. For example, they tweaked the engine to mitigate friction. They also optimized the performance of the continuously variable transmission as well as the air conditioning system.

What's the end result? Well, Honda hasn't shared that much detail. At this point, all we can tell you is it will deliver over 45 mpg and likely not more than 51 mpg. But, be sure to stay tuned if you're interested in learning what the exact ratings are sooner rather than later. Gurley Leep Honda in Elkhart, promises a more in-depth exploration of the redesigned 2012 Honda Insight in weeks following the mid-September show.
