Honda CR-Z Mugen Enters Pre-Production

If you're at all familiar with Mugen, then you know what their double-R moniker entails... For that matter, you also know why so many automotive enthusiasts around the world were so excited to see the Honda CR-Z Mugen RR debut at least year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, then disappointed to see that the model was only an aftermarket proof of concept.

Of course, if you aren't familiar with Mugen or its long history of upping the ante with various Honda models, then you're in for a treat. The CR-Z Mugen RR features a fierce body kit that adds a dry carbon front splitter, side splitters, rear diffuser and under panel, as well as a dry carbon hood, doors, tailgate, and wing. The interior is fit with custom Mugen edition Recaro carbon bucket seats, as well as a color-matched aluminum shift knob that adds the perfect amount of flair.

More interested in what's going on under the hood? Mugen has fit the CR-Z engine with a supercharger that brings its total output up to 190 horsepower and 209 lb.-ft. of torque.

In short, Mugen received near universal acclaim for upping the ante in the 2012 Honda CR-Z, and they've listened to nearly every word of it. In fact, it's one of the reasons why the motorsports company has opted to move its specifically modified version of the CR-Z from being a concept to a pre-production model.

This means that Mugen is seriously considering the possibility of bringing either an aftermarket parts package or maybe even a fully assembled model to the U.S. to be put on sale. However, it only means that they're considering one of those options, and not that either are actually confirmed.

With that, Gurley Leep Honda, located at 2200 Bypass Rd in Elkhart, promises to keep you updated on the latest concerning the CR-Z Mugen RR as well as other new Honda models, so make sure to check back often.
